Nereids by Anna Daki, published by 37.2
Very happy to introduce Nereids, Anna Daki's first book, published by 37.2.
Nereids is an ode to women, seen through Anna’s piercing female gaze with a raw, almost poetic authenticity. Her photographs draw on a lasting fascination with the female body and the sea nymphs of her childhood myths.
Portraits meet still-life photographs featuring floral compositions created with Garance du Nord, whose passion for botany has made her a leading figure in floral design.
The book opens with a beautiful preface by Alexandra Bondi de Antoni, a close friend of Anna’s, celebrating the strength of women.
On a more personal note, I met Anna four years ago after our dear Tania Rat Patron told me: “You have to meet Anna Daki. She is a wonderful person and there’s something really special about the way she photographs women. It would be fantastic to have her in the Agency.” And she was right.
Publishing Anna’s first book is a real joy. The qualities I recognised in her from our very first meeting shine so brightly in this book, a tribute to the unique bonds she has formed with her models and the creative dialogue she has built with Garance.
